The new T-Rx 500

Postby kramerr on Sat Mar 06, 2010 5:52 pm

I had a chance to go outside and try out my 500. What everyone says about this heli is absolutely correct. It flies a lot better than the smaller versions. I had it about 10 feet in the air..and, even with a slight breeze, I was able to keep it in a hover. Now, it's time to get more batteries for it and do some more practicing. Many thanks go out to Adam for helping in the set-up, and to Jack for sending me his gyro setup file.

Good on ya, Ralph! If you're getting new batteries, don't be tempted to use two 450 batteries in series. It works, but I ruined six perfectly good 25c FlightPowers that way. The 500 made them way too hot. Any decent 25C or better six cell is magic in the 500.

I have 2 Outrage NRG 6S 35C 3300mAh batteries that I am using. I will probably be getting some 2500mAh's as well.

What about the 30c???? What would the advantage be to go to this from a 25c??? Betwen the 2, there is only a $5 difference in cost.

Ralph as we know you are on way to take it to the next step from the basic hover to side ins. I do not think you will see any difference in what battery you use at this stage other than time in the air, maybe the heat factor and the best CG. If I were you knowing from my experience flying the 500 I would stick to the lighter batteries like the 2500, 20c (6 cell) because you will find, flying these batteries are far easier to throw around in the sky plus a whole lot cheaper to learn on and will take you to the next steps. I have one 6 cell 3000 25 c and hate using it just because its so heavy. At my stage I like the 6 cell 2650 30C. This gives me all kinds of power when I need it and allows me to be more aggressive. Its more than I need right now by just just starting the very basics of, and I mean very basics of the 3D format but will allow my skills to grow as the 2500 20C will do for you !

Happy Flying
